The Cosy Cottage

The Cosy Cottage was opened in Moville, Co. Donegal, in 2003 by Declan and Sadie Carey. In 2011, Declan and Sadie made the move to becoming a green business because they wanted to save money and lower their carbon footprint. The Cosy Cottage benefits the local economy by employing local people.  It is now a member of the Inishowen Ecotourism Network and is Green Hospitality Certified.

The Cosy Cottage in Co. Donegal is a family-run cafeĢ and an accommodation provider. It offers both B&B and self- catering accommodation. It is close to scenic walks along the shores of Lough Foyle and a play park for children to play safely.

Opportunities and plans for the future

Declan and Sadie are pleased with their steady progress and would like what they have now to be there for their kids to enjoy. Their goals for the future are to continue lowering their carbon footprint and to take the next step in their company’s future.  Declan and Sadie intend to develop their association with the Tidy Towns Competition and will continue to inform their guests about activities that have a low impact on the environment.

Declan’s advice to anyone starting a green business is to start with a plan and don’t jump in: step-by-step works.
